Sustainable Coastlines Hawaii is a registered 501(c)3 nonprofit with a mission to inspire local communities to care for their coastlines. The funding you provide is pivotal in expanding our impact, building our team, and providing amazing experiences that bring people into our mission. Across the world people now know us for our large-scale beach cleanup festivals grounded in a fun, educational experience. However, our impact reaches so much farther than the clean beaches we inspire.
Our education team is in classrooms around the state of Hawai‘i, connecting with keiki (youth) and helping guide a new vision for a world where plastic no longer washes up our shores. Funding keeps our materials up to date, maintains our mobile education delivery vehicle, and allows for more educators in the classrooms. The SCH outreach team doesn’t stop in classrooms, as we know that making change requires the entirety of our community - we’ll bring presentations and outreach material to corporate offices, festivals, or house parties - you name it, we’ll be there. Turning off the tap on plastic pollution is a full-scale effort from all of us and your donations help us build the tools and team we need to make it happen.
SCH is constantly innovating and strategizing to be part of a dynamic world. Your support gives us the nimbleness to be the game changers. For instance in 2020 we are working hard on bringing in new composting and upcycling technology to Hawaii that will lead a movement in reuse. Individual change matters, but we also work on changing institutions to stop plastic pollution before it starts.
