International Coastal Cleanup Day

On September 15th Sustainable Coastlines will be teaming up with a bunch of local organizations to host the largest coastal cleanup Kailua has ever seen. The cleanup is in celebration of the beauty of Kailua and Lanikai plus it is also Int’l Coastal Cleanup Day. This worldwide effort to clean our coasts will result in a concentrated effort focused on cleaning and education.

We will be cleaning all of Kailua Beach, Lanikai Beach, Popoia Island (Flat Island), and Mokunui Island. All are welcome and it is recommended that locals walk to their nearest beach access where they will be greeted by a team from one of the many organizations involved. The team will hand out bags, gloves, tally sheets, and have you sign waivers. Please bring your own reusable water bottle and sunscreen. All others can go to any beach access or meet at Kailua Beach Park.

Keep an eye out for the lucky prize bottles placed on the beach and you might win a prize.

After the cleanup, there will be an after party with games, live music, raffles, food, and more at Lanikai Park. Subscribe to the blog or like us on Facebook to keep in the loop.

    Aloha~
I’m a Korean student in Gachon University living in Hawaii.
I got information about your program from my friend who participated in your program.
She left good words on this program. So I want to join this program so much!!
Could you please let me know how many people can join this program?
Because I have some friends who really want to join this program like me.
I’m looking forward to your reply.
    Mahalo~

Everyone is invited. Go to your closest public beach access in Kailua or Lanikai. Check in 9:30 and after party is at 12:30 to 5.

Help the environment

There are a lot of things you can do to reduce your impact on the environment yourself. Plastic bags for instance have a huge impact.

Why not bring your own while shopping?

What can I do?
